Since 1971 Lowes has issued regular quarterly newsletters and magazines to its clients designed to keep them fully informed of all the financial issues the editorial team consider to be most topical and relevant at the time. The quality and content of the magazine was acknowledged in 1996 when the Company won the industry award for “Best IFA Newsletter”. Over the years Lowes and its Magazine have gained a reputation amongst clients, Journalists and other IFAs for successfully foreseeing problem areas long before they happen. In 1987 it warned clients against pension mis-selling, in 1990 it predicted the collapse of Final Salary Pension Schemes, in 1994 it said that endowments were no longer a suitable option for mortgage repayment and in April 2001 when the FTSE stood at around 5700 and most commentators felt that it could not fall further, Lowes published an article forecasting that the index could fall a further 33 to 50 per cent.
